What does Pocky mean?

Why is Pocky called Pocky? What is the translation of Pocky?

The word ‘Pocky’ doesn’t really mean anything.

The actual word Pocky is a onomatopoetic word in the Japanese language. An onomatopoetic word is basically a word that phonetically imitates the sounds that it is trying to describe.

In this case, in Japanese the word ‘Pocky’ sounds like the noise when you bite into the chocolate and biscuit Pocky sticks, or ‘pokkin.’

So there you have it, Pocky doesn’t actually translate from the Japanese to anything in English. You learn something every day….
