Make your own White Chocolate and Liquorice Pocky

The beauty of Pocky is that at its essence, it is a simple concept – chocolate on a stick, what could be more simple?

This makes it a relatively accessible, and inexpensive, treat that you can try and make at home. This is rough and ready recipe, and makes some nice quick snacks that you can eat in one go, or store and spread over a few days.

This is a quick guide on how you can try and make your own Liquorice Pocky at home. Don’t forget, you can make this with fruit Liquorice, which in our opinion works better than the traditional dark liquorice that doesn’t work as well.

Make your own White Chocolate and Liquorice Pocky

Ingredients

  • Puff pastry dough
  • White chocolate for baking
  • Liquorice

Directions:

Take your puff pastry dough and roll it into sticks. It’s your choice on size, length, and thickness. Place them in the oven for the length of time as stated on the packet of puff pastry.

Whilst they are baking chop your liquorice into tiny pieces, try grating some flakes of it also.

Okay, it’s time to melt the white chocolate. You can melt your chocolate by placing it in a glass bowl, and the placing the bowl in a saucepan of boiling water. Or, you can put the chocolate in a microwaveable dish or bowl and then keep heating it in short bursts until it is melted.

Now you get to the fun part. When the sticks are fully baked, simply dip them into the white chocolate or spread the chocolate over the length of the stick (leaving a bit clear so you can hold it), and the roll the stick in the liquorice bits/flakes.

Then simply leave the the sticks in a cool place and allow then to set.

And there you have it, relatively quick home-made white chocolate and liquorice Pocky-style sticks.
