In March, Glico released a brand new style of Pocky, called ‘Pocky Midi’.
This Pocky is shorter and fatter than regular Pocky, and comes in a smaller box. To be honest, it is like a re-birth of ‘Little Pocky‘ that was available years ago. Remember that?
Despite the smaller size and smaller box, you still get your value for money – each box contains 3 sealed bags that hold 4 Pocky Midi sticks each – so 12 Pocky Midi sticks per box.
Glico is marketing this as a luxury version of Pocky, which is reflected in the price as Pocky Midi is one of the more expensive Pocky types that we have seen in a while.
That said, you get plenty to be pleased about with Pocky Midi. Each stick is about hald the size of a regular Pocky, but the biscuit stick is thicker.
The chocolate topping consists of two layers. The top layer is the usual and firm chocolate that you expect from Pocky, and it is wrapped around an inner layer of softer whipped chocolate. The inner layer is lighter in colour and slightly sweet than the top layer than retains the hint of bitterness that Pocky lovers will recognize instantly.
The chocolate tapers off at the exposed biscuit stick end, and gets thicker and fatter towards the end of the stick. This makes these Pocky Midis look a bit like mini baseball bats, or truncheons.
Take a look at this image that shows the extra thickness of he chocolate on Pocky Midi:
The short size and thicker topping give Pocky midi an pleasant and intense taste.
All in all, this is well worth checking out for all Pocky fans.
